tokidoki Robbery Palette

Ahhh!!!!!!!!!

OK I love this. A good friend gave it to me as a gift and I think it's amazing for a few reasons.

One: Obviously, the packaging is adorable/fun and I love the brand.

Two: Great color combos

Three (and probably most important): The palette comes in a huge tin. BUT - the 3 mini palettes are detachable (as shown above) and are super thin and compact for travel/touch-ups.

I usually have to resist purchasing any type of gift set, even though I really WANT IT REALLY BAD. But what I find happening, is I like maybe one or two things within the set, then i'm left with a ton of product that I don't like or use. Also, the gift sets/tins/etc are usually big and bulky and I have nowhere to store them (even though this one is reallyyyyy cute i'll have to find a place for it!)

The Arlecchino palette (the middle palette above) made me go out of my comfort zone of warm/golds/nudes. I've been using Ninja Dog (the fun purple shade) a lot, and have been getting compliments on it! I also like using the shades Bullets, LA Gun & Candy Cane for the inner corners.

Bottom line: Love the shadows. Love that the palettes are detachable. I've begun using purple shadow. The end.

What do you guys think? Any other palettes you are loving? xoxo

New Tarina Treasures

Magic Hour Cream Shadow in Starchild

Mascara in Black Opal

Many of you know that I am a big Tarina Tarantino fan. I love the style and uniqueness of her jewelry and now, her cosmetics line. Unfortunately, I was a bit disappointed with my two recent purchases above.

I had high hopes for the cream shadow, but don't think that I chose the correct shade for my skin tone. I have a warm skintone, therefore cool silvers and greys sometimes look too harsh on me. I think this was the case here. The feel and payoff of the eye shadow is nice, I just don't like the color on me.

As for the mascara, I got it as a free sample from Sephora with my beauty points. Unfortunately, nothing special. I like a dramatic, thickening mascara and this one is lighter & more natural. Not necessarily a bad product, just not what I usually look for in a mascara.

Sorry for the Debbie Downer review! What I do love of Tarina's though is the Gem Gloss (written about in a previous review). It is fabulous!

Anyone else have a favorite Tarina product?

Beauty Seasonality

Hope all my beauty lovers are doing well! Question - what do you dolls do differently with your makeup when the seasons change? For example, going into fall from summer. Do you switch foundations? Do you start or stop using certain eye shadows or lipsticks? Do you switch from waterproof to regular mascara?

I was thinking about this when I looked in my makeup drawers. After summer, a lot of my products seemed to be packed away - illuminators, bronzers, bright colored eye liners and lipsticks, etc. Do you feel your makeup is very seasonal, or do you seem to stick to a similar look throughout the whole year? Just curious!

Estee Lauder - Blue Dahlia

I am digging the new Estee Lauder Blue Dahlia compacts! I want the blue shades, but am a little nervous to take the blue eye shadow plunge. I think it looks fun and bold when I see it on other people...but I always think i'm going to look like some chick at an 80's dive bar.

What do you guys think about bold blue shadow?

Pure Color Ecstasy

My two new obsessions from Estee Lauder:

Raspberry Pop Sparkle

I adore this lip gloss! I've been using it almost every day and it's beautiful. The shade looks very intense in the tube - almost like a deep berry - which I normally wouldn't go for. But once I swatched it on my hand (always the key) I loved it!

The formula is so silky and NOT sticky or tacky whatsoever. It wears very well, considering the hot summer weather, and it smells delicious. The Pure Color lip gloss line is new to Estee Lauder, and comes in 31 shades (!) and in a variety of finishes. Definitely worth a try, I can't get enough!

Sizzling Copper Metallic

The Pure Color eyeshadow is great as well! I lean towards goldish shades (I have hazel eyes - I feel like the gold brings out the green) and this one is really pretty. I like wearing it alone with a bit of mascara for work - it looks fresh and clean. It also works for the inner corners of the eyes if you're doing a smokey eye. After priming my lids, the eyeshadow stayed put fairly well.

Overall, adore the Pure Color line from Lauder and think it's worth a look next time you're shopping!! Anyone else try some shades?

Burberry Beauty is BELLA

Makeup snobs rejoice!

Burberry's beauty line has finally hit counters, and it looks just as beautiful as the clothing! The beauty line, which is sold currently at Nordstrom, includes lipsticks, lip liners, glosses, eye pencils, shadows, mascara, foundation, blush, powder and bronzer.

The beautiful pieces are inspired by, what else, Burberry's trademark trench coat. As reported by WWD online, the Burberry beauty line generated about $10,000 in only 5 hours in San Francisco! Crazy, huh? Currently, the makeup is sold only at 5 Nordstrom locations. The company plans to roll out the line to 30 stores within the next year.

But don't expect the Burberry line to give into fads or trends. They want their products to be classic, and plan to expand the line each season. The laser engraved makeup and luxurious packaging comes with a hefty price tag (it is Burberry, afterall). Lipsticks are $30, Bronzer is $48, etc. Being the makeup addict I am, it will be hard for me not to at least try ONE thing. I mean, it's research...right? If i'm spending $30 on a lipstick, it better make me look like Marilyn Monroe..

What do you guys think?

EOTD + Sephora Palette

Hi dolls! Hope everyone had a great weekend! I decided to play around with my Sephora palette a bit, and do an Eye of the Day =) I tried my best with the photos, but unfortunately the colors didn't come out as they really look. Check it out, and what I used to create the look! xoxo

The Goods

NARS Eye Primer

Sephora Eye & Lip Palette

MAC to the Beach Eye Liner in Float On By

OK so, I wanted to do a look with the turquoises & greens in the Sephora palette and do a bright and fun summer look. I also used the eye liner from the MAC to the Beach launch to line the top and bottom lids. I topped everything off with MAC Opulash on my top lashes.

I tried going with a yellow & turquoise look at first and really liked it, but it wasn't showing up in the photos at all, so I decided to go with darker shades that showed up more (I used 4 shades in the green family).

I primed my lids with the NARS eye primer (got as a sample from my Sephora beauty points), but i'm not so sure that I like it. It seemed very watery and wet-feeling, so I don't think it made the shadow adhere all too well. I like primers to be on the thicker, creamier side.

I've been trying to think of other unique color combinations to play with, any suggestions?

Go-To Shadow

Do you have one? That "go-to" eye shadow that never fails? That goes with almost any outfit, plays well with your other makeup...the one you can grab on the way out the door, swipe on with one finger, and catch your bus?

I have one that I have been favoring a lot lately:

Too-Faced - Lockdown Ultimate Creaseless Cream Eye Shadow in Bondage (the Ivory shade)

I know I wrote a previous review on my favorite cream shadows, but lately i've found myself always grabbing for this one. It truly does NOT crease. Like AT ALL. The Ivory shade is just the perfect color for me, and it always brightens the eyes and gives you a pretty look.

What about you chicks? Do you have that go-to shadow? Share with us!!

Tokidoki Treasures

Created by Italian designer Simone Legno, these Japenese-inspired, cult-favorite designs have been given the makeup treatment!

Cromatico Eyeshadow (16 shades)

Bastardino Makeup Palettes (1 Palette with 4 different shades)

Prisma Lip Gloss (16 shades)

Fantastico Lip Ink (5 shades), Brush and Inferno Bronzer

Tokidoki Makeup Bags (3 sizes)

Nail Files

Tokidoki Tank Top

I purchased the Perfetto Eye Liner in Black, and the Cromatico Eye Shadow in Donutella:

The packaging is adorable! But the most important question remains - how are the actual products? I'm very happy with both the eye liner and the eye shadow! The Donutella shadow is a lot of fun - shimmery with glitter flecks. I haven't experienced much creasing at all while wearing it, which as we know is very rare!

The Perfetto Eye Liner is also great - it's a felt-tip marker pen which I love. The application is fairly easy if you're trying to achieve the winged-tip cat eye look. It stays put throughout the day, and is a true BLACK color. Comes in 8 shades, and it's waterproof!

I was tempted to buy the Prima Lip Gloss and the Lip Stain, but figured I would quit while I was ahead and only purchase two things from the new line - JUST in case I wasn't impressed. It's possible I might go back for more!

Passionate About Purple

I'm from Jersey. I work in New York City. All I see, wear and live is black clothing, black makeup, etc. Once in a while, you need to break out and say, "Hey, there ARE other colors!" Hence, here it is. Purple things that I am passionate about.

Urban Decay - Rockstar Glitter
When you need a little fun and edge, Urban Decay's glitter is amazing. Use a primer, then apply a nude shadow. I like to line my upper lids with this glitter, very rock and roll!

Sephora - Eye Shadow in Chrome Mono No. 2
Intense color is here! Tired of sheer, nude, light eye shadows? Rebel! Pick one of Sephora's Mono colors. I would go lightly on the mascara with this one, and no eye liner...the color is intense enough to make your eyes stand out.

MAC Cosmetics - Pigment in Quietly
Who doesn't love a MAC Pigment?! They seem to last FOREVER, and the colors are so bold and vibrant. I love Quietly, because it brings out the green flecks in my brown eyes.

Urban Decay - Eye Shadow in Ransom
Similar to the Sephora Mono Shadow, it makes a statement for sure. I like to mix a lighter purple shadow (like MAC's Winter Sky below)for the inner corners of my eyes, and use Ransom on the outer corners as a smoky eye look.

MAC Cosmetics - Small Eye Shadow in Winter Sky
I love this color. It's great by itself with a bit of mascara, because it gives a hint of color without being overpowering. Or to jazz it up, add some purple eye liner or load on the mascara to the top and bottom lashes to instantly update your look.

DKNY - Be Delicious Night Rollerball
I am a rollerball ADDICT! They last a long time, and save the day. I always keep one in my purse for emergencies, like this DKNY rollerball. It's nice to freshen up before you go out after work.

Urban Decay - Clean & Sober Makeup Remover
I'll confess, I bought this makeup remover just because it had a mermaid on it and I'm weirdo. In my defense, I did need a new makeup remover!

Lip Balm - Vanilla Kiss

Vanilla Kiss Lip Balm and Vanilla Cupcake Lipgloss

Thanks to my doll Flower for the photo

What do we think? I think the packaging is pretty cute! Besides the cupcake lipgloss, I haven't tried anything from the H&M beauty line yet. Has anyone else tried anything? Share with us! xoxo

Crazy About Cream...Shadows!

Hi Makeup Addicts! Since I got such great feedback and LOVE from you ladies on my Eye Liner reviews, I figured i'd share with you some of my favorite Cream Eye Shadows of all time! Read up and enjoy!

Illamasqua - Liquid Metal
Shade: Enrapture

Illamasqua is one of my new favorite brands, it reminds me of MAC with a different type of edge. This shadow is so beautiful! It's highly-pigmented and intense, definitely will make your eyes stand out. I prime my eyes, and use either a flat eye shadow brush (like MAC's #242 brush) or my fingers. If i'm going to apply eye liner on top of the shadow, I usually let the shadow dry for a few minutes before laying. This shade (Enrapture) is a great day to night color that will make a statement.

Too Faced - Lockdown Ultimate Creaseless Cream Eye Shadow
Shades: I'm Guilty (Teal Blue) and Bondage (Ivory)

This is truly the first of its kind, a NO CREASE CREAM EYE SHADOW. This is no joke - Too Faced means business! I purchased Bondage first, and it has become a staple in my every day beauty routine. It is a go-to, no-fail color that looks good on everyone, and it really does stay put all day! Unlike Illamasqua's shadow, these Too Faced shadows are more on the sheer and shiny side. I loved the formula so much, that I went back to Sephora and purchased the shadow in another shade - I'm Guilty (sounds about right...)This teal color is so fun for spring/summer! I keep both creaseless shadows in my beach bag - they are great to throw on when you aren't wearing a lot of makeup and always look shiny and pretty. A must-have in my opinion!

NARS - Cream Eye Shadow
Shade: Corfu

Similar to the Too Faced Creaseless Eye Shadows, the NARS Cream Eye Shadow is subtle and sheer. I like wearing this shade (Corfu) with a little mascara and bright lips. It looks natural and flawless - unfortunately, it will crease after some time. Since the application is silky and easy, I'll sneak off to the bathroom for a mid-day touch up!

Urban Decay - Precious Metals
Shade: Platinum

This product screams REBELLIOUS! The shadow name says it all - Precious Metal: Platinum. The color is extremely metallic, shiny and BOLD. I'd say mostly a night time color, I really go all out with my eyes when using this shadow! Once I let it dry, I like to apply a thick strip of liquid liner to the lash line, then apply false lashes. Instant diva makeup.

Yves Saint Laurent - Eye Colour Touch Water Resistant Shadow
Shade: Luminous Toffee

This is an excellent "on the go" shadow. With a built-in applicator brush, you could even put it on without using a mirror. This YSL Shadow has a high-shine, glow factor that makes for instant pretty doe-eyes. I keep this product in my desk at work and love it.

Partners in PRIME
Smashbox Photo Finish Lid Primer & Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion

With all the amazing cream eye shadows above, you absolutely HAVE TO HAVE a good primer base. If any eye shadow is going to work for you all day, you must properly coat your lid with a primer first. I alternate between Urban Decay's Primer Potion and Smashbox Photo Finish. The best way to describe the difference between the two primers, is the Urban Decay primer is dryer and has a powder-like finish. The Smashbox Lid Primer is wetter and creamier, so only use a tiny amount each time or you will have a mess on your hands. =)

Was this helpful, chicks? Are there any Cream Eye Shadows that you can't LIVE without? Share them with us!
